New Public Walking Trail Opens in Pala

North County Times 10.16.11

PALA ---- To give guests and local residents a chance to explore more of its tribal grounds, the Pala band of Mission Indians has opened a public walking trail behind its Pala Casino Spa & Resort.

The new 1.5-mile Cultural and Nature Trail is open from dawn to dusk daily and is free. The trail begins just behind the casino's spa with a large labyrinth path made with local rocks.

Along the walk through the hills of Pala, walkers can test their balance and strength at five Energi exercise stations where they can perform 24 different exercises. The trail includes some small inclines and a small bridge over a stream.

Bill Bembenek said he encourages North County residents to visit the trail. All trail users are required to register and sign a liability waiver in the spa's lobby. Workout or hiking clothes with closed-toe shoes are recommended, as well as bottled water.

Pala Casino is at 11154 Highway 76. Visit or call 877-946-7252.
