PALA, CA – The Pala Band of Mission Indians announced today that it will host the 2012 Indian Health Service Annual California Tribal Leaders’ Consultation March 6-8, 2012 at the Pala Casino in P. The event is an opportunity for California’s Tribal leaders to meet to discuss tribal health services and ways to improve the overall well-being of Tribal members throughout the state.

“Substance abuse problems and other health issues continue to be a challenge for Tribal members throughout California and this conference is unique opportunity to hear how other tribes are addressing them,” said Robert Smith, Chairman of the Pala Band of Mission Indians. “By coming together like this, Tribes can share strategies and tactics that have been successful and explore new ways to support Tribal members.”

There is also a fun run/walk and a visit to the future site of the Southern California Youth Regional Treatment Center. The treatment center will provide support services to help raise the physical, mental, social and spiritual health of young tribal members in the region.
