Pala Band of Mission Indians Donates $80,000 to Bonsall Union School District

PALA, CA – The Pala Band of Mission Indians announced today that it has donated $80,000 to the Bonsall Union School District.

Tribal Chairman Robert Smith made the contribution at the November 14 Bonsall Union School District Board Meeting. The money will be used to hire a counselor for the Vivian Banks Charter School and Norm Sullivan Middle School.

“Having counselors on campus is important for students in elementary and middle school,” said Robert Smith, Chairman of the Pala Band of Mission Indians. “This donation will ensure that students in our region’s schools have access to the resources they need to succeed.”

The Pala Tribe has donated over $700,000 over the past five years to local school districts.

The Pala Band of Mission Indians is a federally recognized tribe whose reservation is located along the Palomar Mountain range approximately 30 miles northeast of San Diego. The majority of the over 900 tribal members live on the 12,000-acre reservation, established for Cupeño and Luiseño Indians, who consider themselves to be one proud people - Pala.
