Please take notice that Southern California Tribal Chairmen’s Association (SCTCA) will conduct a public hearing on behalf participating SCTCA’s Member Tribes (at the option of each Member Tribe) for key stakeholders and members of the public to comment on each participating Tribe’s grant application for grid resilience formula funding under Section 40101(d) of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.

Section 40101(d)(2)(B)(ii) requires that eligible applicants give notice and hold a public hearing to review the criteria and methods they anticipate using to grant awards to eligible entities and the proposed funding distributions and recipients of the grant awards to eligible entities. The purpose of the public hearing is to review the criteria and methods each Tribe anticipates using to grant awards to eligible entities and the proposed funding distributions and recipients of the grant awards to eligible entities, and to share the approach envisioned for setting objectives and metrics and the proposed funding distributions and recipients of the grant awards to eligible entities.

Funds under this provision may be used by Tribes to improve the electric grid’s resilience against disruptive events, as well as strengthen the continuity of service to critical facilities and important community assets. Measures which may be taken include, but are not limited to, utility pole management, power line relocation or reconductoring, and microgrids + storage batteries. The funds may also be used for training, reskilling, recruitment and retention of skilled and properly credentialed workers to perform the work required for eligible improvement measures.

More information on the federal funding program is available on the U.S. Department of Energy’s website at: https://netl.doe.gov/bilhub/grid-resilience/formula-grants
