Please take notice that Southern California Tribal Chairmen’s Association (SCTCA) will conduct a public hearing on behalf participating SCTCA’s Member Tribes (at the option of each Member Tribe) for key stakeholders and members of the public to comment on each participating Tribe’s grant application for grid resilience formula funding under Section 40101(d) of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.

Section 40101(d)(2)(B)(ii) requires that eligible applicants give notice and hold a public hearing to review the criteria and methods they anticipate using to grant awards to eligible entities and the proposed funding distributions and recipients of the grant awards to eligible entities. The purpose of the public hearing is to review the criteria and methods each Tribe anticipates using to grant awards to eligible entities and the proposed funding distributions and recipients of the grant awards to eligible entities, and to share the approach envisioned for setting objectives and metrics and the proposed funding distributions and recipients of the grant awards to eligible entities.

Funds under this provision may be used by Tribes to improve the electric grid’s resilience against disruptive events, as well as strengthen the continuity of service to critical facilities and important community assets. Measures which may be taken include, but are not limited to, utility pole management, power line relocation or reconductoring, and microgrids + storage batteries. The funds may also be used for training, reskilling, recruitment and retention of skilled and properly credentialed workers to perform the work required for eligible improvement measures.

More information on the federal funding program is available on the U.S. Department of Energy’s website at: https://netl.doe.gov/bilhub/grid-resilience/formula-grants

SDG&E Services during COVID-19 Stay at Home Order

Update on SDG&E Services
COVID-19 Stay at Home Order

Stay at Home Order
On March 19, Governor Newsom ordered all Californians to stay at home in an effort to slow the transmission and contain the spread of the novel coronavirus. The order exempts Californians working in 16 federally identified critical infrastructure sectors, including the Energy Sector. Under Governor Newsom’s order, work necessary to the operation and maintenance of gas and electric systems is so vital to the United States that its incapacitation or destruction would have a debilitating effect on security, national economic security, national public health or safety, or any combination thereof.w

Necessary Work
As a provider of critical infrastructure services, it is imperative during this pandemic that SDG&E and its contractors are permitted to perform work necessary to operate and maintain the systems and networks that provide power to our customers. This work may include survey, field and construction work as well as vegetation management and other maintenance services. We look forward to working with you to ensure that your residents continue to receive safe and reliable energy service as they shelter in place.

Safety Precautions
In accordance with county health restrictions, our workers will practice appropriate social distancing whenever possible and will utilize recommended hygiene measures, including the use of personal protective equipment as needed.
