Community Notice: Prevent Trash Fires and Household Hazardous Waste
Prevent Trash Fires
PALA, CA – The Pala Band of Mission Indians and the Pala Environmental Department announce the Prevent Trash Fires initiative.
The Pala Transfer Station needs your help to prevent trash fires. Trash fires can occur in residential bins, dumpsters, and at disposal sites like the transfer station when hazardous materials are improperly mixed in with regular household trash. Trash fires pose significant safety risks due to potential explosions, fire spread, and the release of toxic fumes.
Household Hazardous Waste
Proper waste management practices, including safe storage and disposal of Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) and other hazardous materials, are crucial for preventing dangerous trash fires. Use your red HHW bin to collect hazardous waste and put it out next to your recycling bin for weekly pickup, or take it to the Pala Transfer Station during one of our quarterly HHW collection events.
