Reintroducing the Pala Wildland Fuels Crew

As fire season is upon us again, you may see the Pala Fuels Crew out and about on the reservation. They will be maintaining existing fuel breaks and doing other work to help protect Pala in case of wildfire.

Crew Facts:

  • Work under the Pala Environmental Department
  • Program has been grant funded for 6+ years
  • 9.5 miles of maintained fuel breaks surrounding Pala communities
  • Work closely with Chief Ravago & the Pala Fire Department
  • Crew has National Wildfire Coordinating Group basic S130 and S190 type 2 firefighting training
  • Carry all the gear needed in case a fire breaks out while working

Announcement: 2020 Tribal Riparian Workshop – POSTPONED

UPDATED – 3/12/20: Due to concerns around the COVID-19 virus, and especially protecting our elders, we are postponing the 2020 Tribal Riparian Workshop as this is the safest course of action. We plan to reschedule for the fall or early winter based on availability.
